Experience: Over the last several decades, my fitness career transitioned from dance instructor to aerobics instructor to personal trainer.  I’ve been a certified personal trainer since 1994.  Locke’s Personal Fitness began as an in-home personal training business in 1994 where I traveled to clients’ homes, businesses and country clubs across Pittsburgh for about seven years.  After spending way too much time traveling from client to client, I opened my own personal training studio in 2001.  I began with a small studio above DeLallo’s Ft. Couch Café then moved across the street to a bigger facility four years later.  Within the next two years, we outgrew that space and expanded to double our size.  I continue to work with clients with varieties of goals and abilities.  My experience meeting and training the diverse needs of clients over the past two decades has been rewarding both professionally and personally.  I thank God every day to be able to do what I love for a living.

I’m also certified by Titleist Performance Institute as a Golf Fitness Professional.  Now, in addition to general strength and flexibility conditioning, I am able to provide golf screens for golfers of all ages and skill levels.  The TPI golf screen assesses the golfer’s upper and lower body rotation, stability, strength and flexibility as it pertains to an effective golf swing.  Golf swing characteristics are also assessed.  Once this information is gathered, a golf-specific fitness program is designed to address any weaknesses and improve overall strength and flexibility.  All of this is important in order to facilitate an effective golf swing as well as correct swing characteristics that may have been causing or could eventually cause repetitive use injuries.

Experience: Before entering the world of personal training, I was a professional ballet dancer.   When it came to my professional career, personal fitness was essential for performance, conditioning, and injury prevention.  During my career I have performed with ballet companies throughout the United States.  I started my career in ballet with the Los Angeles Ballet at the age of 19.  After dancing with the Los Angeles Ballet for six seasons, I joined the Suzanne Farrell Ballet located in Washington D.C., and then finished my career dancing with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.  My background in ballet has awarded me many skills that I now utilize in my personal training methods.  No matter what your goals are I can help you achieve them.  Training for a career in professional ballet requires much discipline, attention to detail, hard work, and unwavering focus.  These are all of the qualities I promise to bring into helping you get to where you want to be

Experience: I am a former chain-smoking, binge-drinking, impulse-eater.  I know how tough it is to break bad habits, but I did it with a renewed love for life and exercise.  Life is short, and you should be willing and able to enjoy it every chance you get. I discovered being in good shape gave me the energy and confidence to do many other things like learn kick boxing and judo.

Jason Metz, Ph.D

Experience: I have worked in the fitness industry for over 13 years, and I am currently an Adjunct Professor at Waynesburg University.  In those 13 years, I have worked with Division 1 athletics, professional and Olympic athletes as well as clinical populations that include cancer, cardiac, COPD, stroke, diabetes, paralysis and Parkinson’s disease just to name a few.  I am projected to finish my  Ph.D in Exercise Physiology in 2015.  I’m a published author through the NSCA and also serve on several special-interest group panels through the NSCA and ACSM.  Also, through the NSCA, I serve as a registered mentor
